Introducing the 2007 Champions
Cuffy Kehl and Shane Manford

he Atkokan Bass Classic's move next year to Upper and Lower Marmian Lake (the Floods) was given a huge
kick of support, when Atikokan Equipment Rentals owner - Paul Gronski, started off Saturday's weigh in by boosting next year's top prize by $2,000, thus making the booty worth $10,000. 2008 Prize Structure. He also offered that an ABC Competitor that catches a bigger bass than the one his wife Angie Bradshaw caught in the Floods this year (2007), which weighed in at a whopping 7 lbs 7 ozs, will be awarded $500.
What follows is a point form synopsis that "puts you in" the Atikokan Bass Classic Event Tent during the 2007 Top Ten Weigh in:
There was a big round of applause for the only all women team, (and this year the only women in the tournament) when they reported that they only managed one bass and a "big sloob".
Emcee Jimmy Johnson hollered out, "two lousy stinking rotten looking bass," which greeted the ears of Garry McKinnon and Larry Ogden when they weighed in on Saturday. "We could have gone home at 9 o'clock and caught the same weight" [amount of bass] Garry joked. As it turned out, their two bass weighed a respectable four pounds.
The "Wiens Team" told a "story" about how they missed the first two "giant bass" the first day of the tourney, because there weren't any hooks on their lures. Apparently while pre fishing they had been advised to take the trebles off their crankbaits, so they wouldn't "sting" the hawgs they hoped to boat during the tourney. But they forgot to put them back on!!! Click to view rest of top ten summary.

MNR Atikokan Area Office Bass Data

Competitors have commented numerous times on their 'Feedback Forms', that they very much appreciate that we include in the Tourney Bags we hand out before the Rules Meeting, data that Brian Jackson, MNR Atikokan Area Biologist, has collected over the years, while sampling bass caught during the Atikokan Bass Classic. For this reason, we've included in chart form, some of the data we thought bass anglers would be interested in. Check it out at these links: Brian Jackson's ABC Bass Data Charts, Brian's 2006 Live-well Oxygen Stats, Brian's Bass Movement Study - 2001, Brian's Turtle Lakes Ecosystem Story, Brian's DCT Lakes Bass Length = Weight Chart and the ABC's New Oxygen System.
